I love "Both Sides Now" and don't really know the lyrics so I looked then up. It seems to fit the songs from the heart and leveling up themes.

"It's life's illusions I recall.

I really don't know life at all."

Feels like life's illusions are crumbling, and it is not all that comfortable. If we can look at it as play, like looking at clouds or singing, it could be easier.

Oh and the synchronicities 😁🥰🌈

Yes the song and yes the synchronicities!! Julie — an old friend from college who I haven’t been in touch with for 30 years — found me here when she was thinking of me from my having covered Joni’s Both Sides Now back in college. And that very song came up in my consciousness just last week, after having forgotten about it for years. When I was singing it to myself, I was noticing your same observation Marie — it was deeper than I had remembered it to be, and had new meaning for me. Thank you for reminding me of that-!!

My guides will also use "pop culture" references to make a point. They often make me laugh.

My Voice went silent while I was caregiving for my mother (as that took up all of my bandwidth!) but I have begun to sing/tone again. If you look up Enya's *Amarantine* album, the first track, "Less Than a Pearl," will give you an idea of what I do, minus the musical accompaniment and studio production. 😉

It's called Light Language in some circles. I call it First Tongue, as I have been advised this is what all other "tongues" have emerged from.

Oh Victoria, it makes me so happy you are singing anew too! Song is light language you mean? It most definitely feels that way. Oh and Enya!! Watermark was my fav album back in the day — totally love singing to her music. Thank you so much for sharing, and for coming back to song. 💜💜💜

This was so beautiful, Carrie! I generally prefer reading articles over watching videos, so I was a bit hesitant to click play. Thankfully I did, because your video was so fun and beautiful! I loved "the way knows the way", the gentle waves of the water, and your entertaining animal audience. Keep singing!

Aw friend thank you! I hope you saw that there is a much longer written post attached as well, which gives it context. I will be intrigued to hear if you didn’t see the rest of the post as I’ve often wondered how the video-leading posts show up in feed.

Yes, the written part of the post showed up underneath the video so I was able to read it!

In my browser, here's what the video-leading posts look like: the video is featured prominently at the top, followed by the headline and subtitle, followed by the post itself. I guess you could always open this post in a private window if you want to see how it shows up?

Ah ok awesome!! I see it in the app as just the video, which you can play directly and bypass the written post entirely. So was curious about how others saw / engaged with it. Thank you sister!

Carrie, I am very taken by the singing to and with life. And I loved that you sung to the seals. For many years I was involved in chanting, I played the harmonium and tambora. The voice, especially when combined with other voices has such cadence and vibration. So much healing power in that. Reminding me right now as I write of the keening women did in Ireland after someone died. That is making a return now. Thanks, I love the invitation to play with this...

Also the seals, so amazing. I live near the north pacific coast, and almost every time I visit, there are seals. Pup season now.

Oh pups!!! I can’t wait to see some! Are you on the Olympic Peninsula too? If so, you would love Heidi’s song circles, they are so uplifting and empowering! So much so that I am going to be incorporating song into my writing retreats. Oh the harmonium is indeed so so lovely to chant and sing with — we just had a KirtanFest here in town where there was that kind of chanting all day, which I hear was transcendent. 💜💜💜

No, I live in the Bay Area. There are pups at the Point Reyes beaches. But the song circles sound amazing. If I was there I would be joining right away! I still love chanting, but don't do it so much anymore. More drawn to what you brought forward here.

Oh Point Reyes! I used to live in SF and occasionally would hike up there. I am going to be incorporating song circles into my retreats moving forward because they are creating such amazing goodness, so if you ever want to come to a retreat up here, you will get to experience one! 🥰

Ohhhh Sacred Responsibility THIS is what I’ve been feeling Carrie! Rather than the liberation that my spirit has been craving. I feel like I’ve been tied down by the responsibility because this is the expectation from past soul lives. You will do it how the system wants you to. Now that’s making perfect sense I can work through it. I love this expression through song, it sounds beautiful and freeing. Time to set ourselves free eh? 🙏💫

Oh I am so happy to hear this confirmed by your experience too! To be honest, I was surprised that more folks haven’t been commenting to say they are being called to sacred responsibility too, as it feels very much in the field right now. I am excited to chat via Signal to find out what’s coming in for you!!! 💜💜💜

Mom I DID swim out to them! But they kept a respectful distance, I’m rather sorry to say. I feel we are building up the relationship first… 🦭💜🥰

Stumbled on you the day after Joni Mitchell was getting attention for appearing on the Grammys. Have VIVID memories of you singing "Both Sides Now" - so glad to find you here.

I want to come to one your events, we are way more aligned than you'd probably believe.

Sister we always were aligned, just one of us had better fashion sense (hint: it wasn't me). YES COME TO A RETREAT! Also how are you messaging me? It is one of the failings of Substack that we do not have private messaging ability yet, tho apparently it is rolling out soon? Email me: csb@withinsight.be.

Yes, thank you. I just realized that - and I think that was why I did not reach out earlier. I couldn't figure out a messaging path, assumed I'd figure it out later - so YES I will be emailing you.
